I often get frustrated letters from people who tell me that they can not find a doctor to listen to them or help them with their hair loss. This is a very common problem which I believe lies in the fact that many see hair loss, shedding, or thinning as a vanity issue rather than a medical one. More than one person has written me and said something like "my doctor thinks that because what ever issue is causing my hair loss is not life threatening, that I'm overreacting or imagining things.
